Rajko OrchestraRajko Folk Ensemble
Rajko Folk Ensemble was founded in 1950. Since then they have been dedicated to stage authentic Hungarian folk dances and have been working on preserving Hungarian folk traditions as a professional folk ensemble for 67 years.
They have presented masterpieces of outstanding choreographers like Béla Szirmai, Tibor Somogyi, László Berzsenyi or Miklós Rábai.
A new dancer and choreographer generation has grown up in the ensemble recently. “Rhythm game at Méhkerék” and “Gypsy dances” that has been created out of materials from the Transylvanian Szászcsávás has enjoyed a resounding success both nationally and abroad.
They have worked with dances from Kalotaszeg, in Transylvania, Kalocsa, in lower middle or Palócföld in Northern Hungary and produced
choreographies from them. Our dancers achieve spectacular successes while wandering among different music genres. An excellent example of this success is the ensemble’s dances choreographing Strauss music and having been performed at 1100 events all around France for 11 years. The same performance is approaching its 100th occasion in Poland.
Countless television recordings preserve the ensemble’s performances and could reach a lot of people within and outside Hungary.
Outstanding artistic interaction of musicians, dancers and art directors have contributed to an over 60-year long success of Rajko Folk Ensemble.
The Art Director of the ensemble is László Berzsenyi.
