The Rajkó Orchestra The Orchestra
The Rajkó Orchestra was established in 1952 by Pál Szigeti director and Gyula Farkas artistic director and conductor with the aim of creating opportunities for Roma young people living in various parts of the country to cultivate and develop the traditions of Gypsy music.
The main mission was to elevate gypsy music from the level of “tavern music” to the world’s major stages. Over the last 65 years, thousands of young musicians have emerged from the Rajkó Orchestra, who are rightfully defining the values represented only by “rajkók” in Hungary.
